Aeronautical engineering focuses on aircraft and their systems. Aerospace brings together propulsion, electrical, mechanical and systems integration. Mechanical engineering gives students a closer look at components, mechanisms and engineering hardware.
Depending on the programme, students may encounter processes such as electrical measurement, wiring, soldering and work with aircraft components.
Astronomy & Astrophotography — Abu Dhabi
Students interested in space can use telescopes for astronomical observation and learn how images are captured, processed and analysed. This is a structured astronomy experience rather than a company internship.
Psychology

Psychology appears in very different professional settings.
The Psychology Internship in Dubai looks at communication, emotions, reactions and relationships.
Forensic & Clinical Psychology in Dubai introduces the connection between behaviour, crime, evidence and the legal system.
Virtual Clinical Psychology looks more closely at neuropsychology, cognition, memory and attention through case analysis.
Business, Finance & Management

A student interested in “business” could mean anything from investing to launching a company, managing a consumer brand or working in sport.
The Investing, Business & Wealth Management programme includes an AED 100 million investment-allocation scenario, with students considering risk, return and public and private opportunities.
Business & Entrepreneurship takes students through an idea, research, validation, an MVP and a final pitch.
Students can also explore FMCG Brand Management and PR, Communications & Luxury Brand Management.
Sports Management
Students see the operational side of a working sports facility, including events, operations, customer experience and engagement. They also develop an event concept and recommendations.
AI & Technology
Dubai + Virtual
Using AI, developing a digital product and protecting a network require very different ways of thinking.
AI & Machine Learning introduces data, machine-learning models, basic deep learning and computer vision. No previous coding experience is required.
AI & Product Development in Dubai starts with a problem and takes students through research, product thinking, specifications, prototyping and a final pitch.
Cybersecurity & Network Security introduces cyber threats, network security, encryption and ethical-hacking concepts.
Law
Dubai | In-person
Legal work involves much more than appearing in court.
Students see how a law firm operates while gaining exposure to legal systems, contracts, legal research, analysing issues and constructing arguments. The programme also includes Moot Court.
Architecture, Design & Creative Media
Dubai + Virtual
For students who enjoy design but are less certain where it could lead, there are several very different directions.
In Dubai, students can explore Architecture, Interior Design, Fashion Design and Gallery Management. Architecture includes AutoCAD, SketchUp and 3D modelling, while Interior Design looks at space, materials and concept development.
Virtual options include Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, 2D & 3D Animation, Digital Filmmaking and Video Editing & Motion Graphics. Depending on the programme, students work with tools such as Adobe software and Figma.
WHY DO AN INTERNSHIP WHILE STILL AT SCHOOL?
Enjoying a subject doesn’t necessarily tell a student whether they will enjoy the career behind it.
A student may love biology but be unsure about a clinical environment. Someone strong in physics may not yet understand the difference between aeronautical and mechanical engineering. And “business” can lead towards investment, entrepreneurship, brands, communications or sports management.
A good experience gives them something more useful than another description of the career: something real to compare with what they imagined.
It may confirm a direction. It may make them reconsider one.
Either way, they understand the career better.

INTERNSHIP, OBSERVERSHIP OR JOB SHADOWING?
The terms are often used as though they mean the same thing. They don’t always.
An internship may combine projects, professional activities, observation and supervised age-appropriate tasks.
An observership is primarily observational. This is particularly important in healthcare.
Job shadowing usually means observing a professional or workplace to understand the role and working environment.
Some programmes are better described as career exposure, particularly when they combine projects, cases, professional interaction and an introduction to the field.
Rather than concentrating on the label, ask:

It depends on what the student needs to experience.
For healthcare, engineering, law, architecture or sports management, the physical environment can be an important part of understanding the profession.
AI, cybersecurity, psychology case analysis, graphic design, UI/UX, animation and other digital fields can also work naturally online.
Virtual programmes also give students across the UAE access without needing to travel to Dubai.

Many programmes are suitable for students in Grades 9–13, but minimum ages and eligibility vary by programme and provider.

How long are the programmes?
Duration varies by programme. Some experiences run over a few days, while others run longer depending on the field and format.

How early should we enquire?
Earlier is better for specialist and in-person programmes. Hospitals, engineering environments and other professional settings can require advance planning.
What if my child has no idea which career to choose?
Career exposure can be especially useful when a student is undecided. Comparing two different fields can sometimes be more useful than trying to choose a university subject from descriptions alone.
